RESPONSE TIME ISSUES

911 is a Joke! You better wake up and smell the real flavor, 'Cause 911 is a fake life saver!

Before we examine response time to Katrina -- do you remember how Bush responded to 9-11? Would you like to look back at how Bush reacted to the other greatest embarrasing tragedy of our nation, for which we were also unprepared?

Watch how on the morning of 9/11/01, "President" George W. Bush was scheduled to appear at a Florida elementary school to promote a reading program for third graders. It was at this event that Bush learned that the nation was under attack by terrorists...His response was to sit there and do nothing for another seven minutes...

How Will Sexual Harassment Training Help Firefighters Save Drowning People? As New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin pleaded on national television for firefighters (his own are exhausted after working around the clock for a week) a battalion of highly trained men and women sat idle Sunday in a muggy Sheraton Hotel conference room in Atlanta. Many of the firefighters, assembled from throughout the United States by FEMA, thought they were going to be deployed as emergency workers. Instead, they are going to be community-relations officers, shuffled throughout the Gulf Coast region to hand out flyers with a phone number: 1-800-621-FEMA. On Monday, some firefighters stuck in the staging area at the Sheraton peeled off their FEMA-issued shirts and stuffed them in backpacks, saying they refuse to represent the federal agency.

Hey Lucy! You Got Some 'Splaining to Do!
Like: How come Cuba could evacuate 660,000 people in advance of Hurricane Dennis, a Cat 4 that hit them in July 2005; and only suffer ten fatalities? That’s because Cuba not only invests in disaster preparation and strong civil defense, but because there is a social committment to medical infrastructure, high literacy levels, and government support of community organizers.

Better ask Nagin why he wouldn't use the buses. Might want to ask Blanco why she blocked the Red Cross from distributing food and water.

This is a good one:

Santorum has critical words for forecasters in the wake of Katrina 09/09/2005
Damon Boughamer
(Washington) -- U.S. Senator Rick Santorum is suggesting that early mistakes in predicting the path of Hurricane Katrina may be a symptom of lost focus at the National Weather Service. Santorum, who introduced legislation earlier this year to curb the output of government weather forecasters, says tracking life-threatening weather must be central to what the agency is doing.

Asked about Katrina by WITF, Santorum described weather service warnings for Florida, where the storm first made landfall, as “not sufficient." Santorum’s bill instructs the government to abandon weather prediction and data reporting efforts that duplicate private-sector activity. He came under fire when it was revealed that the head of State College-based AccuWeather, which would benefit, has given his campaigns thousands of dollars.

You failed to mention that the chiefs of those fire deparments were told ahead of time what those firefighters would be doing.

And before you tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about, I AM a firefighter who passed on that deal. I was told upfront what it was all about.

But then that wouldn't fit your Moron.org agenda, would it?

Response time issues?

Federal response to hurricane Andrew 1992: 5 days.

Response to flooding after hurricane Floyd 1999: 3 weeks.

Response to hurricane Katrina 2005: 3 days.

Not too bad, eh?

You and your liberal buddies killed your 40 y/o strong community of WARDS of the WELFARE State not George Bush.

You are sadly wrong on all count. It seems in REALITY where REGULAR FOLKS are forced to live, work, pay bills, take care of their own needs, pay taxes to keep your wards voting democratic and die; that had the ENVIORNMENTAL WACK JOBS not sued i.e. 1970 to protect the wetlands a huge protecting leveee would have been built.

Quote
The very day he spoke a congressional task force reported that the levees that failed in New Orleans would have been raised higher and strengthened in 1996 by the Army Corps of Engineers were it not for a lawsuit filed by environmentalist led by who else but the Sierra Club. Among those "leaders of our country" to "be held accountable" for the flooding of New Orleans, would Al include the Sierra Club? How about the Save the Wetlands stalwarts? According to a recent report in the Los Angeles Times, a 1977 lawsuit filed by Save the Wetlands stopped a congressionally funded plan to protect New Orleans with a "massive hurricane barrier." A judge found that New Orleans' hurricane barrier would have to wait until the Army Corps of Engineers filed a better environmental-impact statement.

Now, because those who would have improved hurricane protection in New Orleans were prevented by the environmentalist rigorists, the wetlands are polluted and imperiled and New Orleans has suffered the damage that practical minds have been trying to prevent for three decades. What has thwarted them are the Al Gores of the environmental movement and a well-intentioned piece of legislation that has become a major stumbling block to improving the nation's infrastructure and energy production, the National Environmental Policy Act of 1970 (NEPA).
